What you should know |
Thank you for considering to get physical therapy, scoliosis and spine specific exercises with me. I will be happy to help you (or your family member) with the Schroth method. According to my plan of care, I will first conduct an initial evaluation, which will take about an hour. You should expect me to look at your/your child’s back and take some related clinical measurements that will include postural assessment, overall strength and range of motion. I will also ask you some questions about the diagnosis, symptoms, concern, and goals of treatment, and then I will discuss the plan of care based on my assessment (clinical and radiological).
I highly recommend scheduling a 2-hour appointment for this initial meeting. That will include the evaluation and an immediate follow-up session. In this way you will begin learning the method right away and will learn some exercises for your follow-up at home.
After the initial evaluation, and from experience, 5 to 10 sessions are needed to learn all of the exercises for home practice, which is the goal of the therapy (self-empowerment). To ensure that you will have an easy time implementing the method at home, we will videotape all the exercises on your device (cell, iPad or computer). Each follow up session is 55 minutes 1:1.
I offer 7-day-a-week consultation and treatment sessions and my last session of each day is 5:30-6:25PM.
I work out of network and do not accept insurance but will be able to provide you with an invoice to submit to your insurance or flex account. My fees are $450 for the initial evaluation, and $350 for treatment sessions. I accept Checks, Venom and Paypal. No Credit Cards
About the Training:
I strongly believe in and encourage intensive training, assuming that your body is physically fit for that regiment and that you have the time and budget (this type of learning was proven to be the most effective for remembering the home exercises). But if you cannot attend intensive training, you should know that any practice of the method is better than the alternative.
If you are interested in intensive training to learn all of the exercises in 3 to 4 days, or if you are an out-of-state patient, it usually makes sense to spend a full weekend with me. You can meet with me for 3 days: Fri-Sun, or 4 days: Thu-Sun, and each day we will have morning and afternoon sessions with a lunch break in between. Other combination of days is available too – anything that will suit you best.
Here is an example of a 3-day schedule:
Day 1 (Thursday):
First session, which will include initial evaluation: 10:30-1:00PM; Lunch: 1:00-2:00PM; Second session: 2:00-3:30
Days 2-4 (Friday - Sunday):
First session: 10:30-12:00PM; Lunch: 12:00-1:00PM; Second session: 1:00-2:30
We can arrange the hours that will fit your schedule.
In preparation for the evaluation, please follow these instructions:

Insurance Information |
Insurance Reimbursement:
Dr. Berdishevsky does not bill insurance companies directly. The patient is expected to pay for therapy sessions and then may apply to their insurance company for reimbursement. Therapy sessions are typically a full hour (more or less as necessary) rather than allocating time for dealing with insurance companies. Receipts are provided using typical physical therapy insurance codes.
When provided by a licensed physical therapist who is also certified as a Schroth Scoliosis Therapist, Scoliosis Specific Exercises and management are considered under the umbrella of physical therapy services. If you have insurance coverage for out-patient physical therapy, you should be eligible for reimbursement at their standard out-patient rate. Dr. Berdishevsky is not an in-network provider, and therefore your reimbursement will most likely be at the insurance company's out of network rate.
Please be advised that in the event of a missed, cancellation less than 24-hours prior to scheduled appointment or no-show appointment, there will be a full charge of the session.
